Get Your Library Card

It's never too late to sign up for a library card, and it doesn't cost anything. Having a library card gives you access to library materials and services. In order to get a library card, you'll need to visit your local library and complete the registration process. New Webster Parish adult card holders have a three month (90 day) probationary period, beginning the day of registration, limiting the number and/or types of materials they are able to check out. Limits will increase automatically after 90 days.

Filling Out a Form

Adults (18+)

To complete the registration process, all you will need to bring with you is a picture ID with your current residing address on it, such as a driver's license. If your ID does not have current residing address, also bring with you a form of verification that has the correct name and address. Ex: Bill, Mail, etc.

Minors

To complete the registration process for a minor, a parent/guardian of the minor must be present and must bring their picture ID with the parent/guardians current residing address on it, such as a driver's license. If the ID does not have current address, a form of verification that contains the name and correct residing address of the parent/guardian must be presented. Ex: Bill, Mail, etc.

If the juvenile is not present with the parent/guardian, proof of identity for the minor must be presented. Ex: Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Insurance Card, School Report Card, etc.

Public Computer Usage

A library card is not necessary to use the public computers and or internet; however, it is encouraged and a public computer can only be accessed by adults and minors holding a library card in which a parent/guardian has given a prior authorization for access. For adults needing to use a public computer, a computer guest pass will be provided to you by staff.

In order to use a in-house moveable, such as a laptop, a driver's license must be provided along with your library card.

There is no charge for your first library card. There is a $1.00 replacement card fee for each additional card.
