Discover Discovery Camp - May 28th to June 28th
Discovery Camp is a four week program geared towards school aged children designed to:
-
Encourage Learning Outside of a Classroom
-
Foster a Love of Reading
-
Improve Social Skills and Make New Friends
-
Offer Safety and Support
-
Build Confidence, Develop Self-Reliance, and Independence

Camp begins the last week of May as registration week marks the beginning of the program. Each week, campers will participate in S,T,E,M, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) based programs keeping literature, of course, at the foundation of learning.

Over the course of four weeks, campers will receive 'library bucks' for every book read or special performance attended. Campers can put those math skills to use by trading library bucks in for prizes.

At the end of camp, children aged 0 - 11 who read 5 or more books will received a certificate of participation and be invited to attend a special gathering just for them. For children aged 0 - 11 that read 30 books, they will receive a certificate of completion as well as an award medal at the end of camp.
Only reads logged into Beanstack will count towards completion.
ALL LOGS MUST BE ENTERED BY JUNE 28TH AT 5PM.

Registration Day - Full STEAM Ahead!
Pre-registration for Discovery Camp will open on May 1, 2025. Campers can pre-register in person at a local library branch or online via Beanstack.

Discovery Camp registration will take place on the following dates:
-
Wednesday, May 28, 2025, for the northern parts of the parish
-
Thursday, May 29, 2025, for the southern parts of the parish

South branches (including Doyline, Heflin, Minden, and Sibley) will host a registration event at the Minden branch from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM. North branches (including Cotton Valley and Springhill) will hold a registration event at the Springhill branch during the same hours. These events will feature a STEAM Museum, provided by the nationally renowned Mobile Ed Productions!

A STEAM museum is dedicated to exploring and highlighting the interconnectedness of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. It features interactive exhibits, hands-on experiments, and engaging demonstrations designed to encourage campers to think critically, solve problems, and unleash their creativity.
Unlike traditional museums, which typically showcase static displays and historical artifacts, STEAM museums offer dynamic, experiential learning opportunities that actively engage visitors in the discovery process.

Scheduled Sessions - REGISTRATION REQUIRED (NO CHARGE TO ATTEND)
*Campers must register to attend a session by calling the location of the scheduled session or by signing up in person at the branch. Attendance is limited to 60 campers per session to allow each camper time at each station. Registration opens May 1, 2025 for STEAM showings.
